Revisions

With all the years of experience Dr. Gagner has accumulated, it is no wonder he is one of the world’s foremost experts in highly complex bariatric surgery revision procedures. Dr. Gagner can accommodate for most patient cases. Once he has a chance to learn the peculiarities of a case, he can advise for the best course of action. While no two revisions are the same, there are some types of revisions performed more often than others:

Gastric Banding Revision

Recent studies have demonstrated that Gastric Banding (GB) is associated with a high rate of failure due to complications and insufficient weight-loss. There are multiple options available for failed GB patients; a popular option is revision by performing a sleeve gastrectomy, a gastric bypass, or a duodenal switch.

Gastric Sleeve Revision

Some gastric sleeve (GS) patients necessitate extra steps to reach weight-loss targets. These include a re-sleeve (making it tighter), placating the sleeve, a second stage duodenal switch procedure, or converting to a gastric bypass.

IN ORDER TO EVALUATE YOUR CASE, DR. GAGNER WILL REQUIRE THE FOLLOWING:

  • A copy of the previous operative report
  • A recent GI series (barium swallow, a radiological exam of your stomach)
  • A recent gastroscopy (inside view of your stomach)
